When they are old enough in the morning we take the Basenjis outside to go to the bathroom. Then it is time to eat. We do this on a regular schedule trying to get them started on potty training. Your new puppy has it's 5 week and 8 week vaccination, which covers ( Canine Distemper, Canine Hepatitis, Canine Adenovirus Type 2 (CAV-2), Canine Coronavirus, Canine Parainfluenza, and Canine Parvovirus (CPV) Type 2b, Leptospira canicola, Leptospira grippotyphosa, Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae and Leptospira Pomon ). Your puppy should get established with your veterinarian for their 12 week, 16 week, and annual vaccinations. Rabies vaccine must be done at 4 months of age, and then a follow up at one year. Basenji females typically have their first heat at 6 months of age. I would recommend to spaying or neutering your puppy around this time.
Basenjis are small, independent and graceful, they stand about 16 inches at the shoulder. They are recognizable by their shinny short coat, tightly curled tail, and wrinkled forehead. They are mischievous and clever. Known for getting into trouble when left alone for an extended time. They convey a variety of subtle human like emotions

Basenjis have an impressive fast trot and long smooth strides when running. Yes, it's true, they don't bark, but they make their feelings known with an odd sound described as something between a chortle and a yodel. Basenjis are fastidious and will groom themselves like cats. They are generally great pets for people with allergies and they are very good with kids.

They naturally have a low dander production rate, makes them a perfect choice for many allergy sufferers all over the world. Basenji dogs shed dander once every month, thus keeping the presence of the allergens low.
Not necessarily mischievous, just really playful and get into things while playing!
Yes they do yodel to get your attention but they do not bark. Which is good for people who live in a duplex apartment.
